Manager, Construction Claims

About the role

The Manager, Construction Claims will assist their assigned Director with leading and managing assigned resources in support of achieving the defined overall practice area/ practice division strategy, and in meeting or exceeding defined financial performance and revenue generation targets.

Responsibilities

• Supporting assigned Director in meeting or exceeding the defined annual budget for the entire practice area/practice division (including proactive management of assigned resources to meet or exceed defined utilization targets, oversight of execution of profitable engagement work streams, and communication with clients as assigned or requested)
• Managing and leading the execution of any new accounts and supporting the retaining and expansion of existing engagements to achieve sales goals
• Effectively delegating assignments to assigned direct reports, instructing and monitoring progress, and ensuring work product is consistently high quality
• Proactively monitoring all relevant data such as utilization, Accounts Receivable, discretionary spending, etc.
• Meting or exceeding defined individual average utilization goals (and incorporating consideration of individual revenue targets) as set forth by company leadership
• Directly managing, mentoring and developing a team of assigned direct reports in a "lead by example" manner, with emphasis on creating a team and culture that is empowered to execute
• Leading and managing in a manner that assists with rapid identification and escalation to Director of any client, team member or operational challenges
• Performing detailed analysis of data and documentation, such as: construction drawings, schedules, submittals and shop drawings, daily reports, weather data, cost reports, and more, to determine trends and key findings
• Preparing forensic schedule analysis utilizing various methods, such as As-Planned vs. As-Built and Windows Analyses
• Conducting labor productivity evaluations
• Calculating delay damages, calculating lost profit / income, and assessing consequential damages
• Reviewing and verifying construction costs and cost reasonableness
• Developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules in Primavera P6
• Performing reviews of baseline and periodic schedule updates for quality, compliance with specifications and overall reasonableness
• Preparing and/or assisting with the preparation of expert reports, expert testimony and exhibits for trial or settlement negotiations, and providing client support during litigation, arbitration or mediation

Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience, a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience, or 8 years of related experience and no degree, and 3 years of supervisory experience
• Prior experience as consultant working on damages and investigative work in support of contractual disputes, delay claims, and litigation
• Proficient in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Ability to work in a consultant setting and track time and monitor activities against a budget
• Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing
• Proficient with standard software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, Adobe)
• Proficient with scheduling software, such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project

The Salary Ranges For This Role Are As Follows $78,000 - $186,000 USD annually (Geographical Tier A - Sample Locations: Irvine CA, Middlesex NJ, Tacoma WA, Boston, Alexandria)
