About the role

We are seeking a Manager, Commodity Procurement and Risk Management, based out of our corporate office in Oak Brook, IL. This role partners across the TreeHouse Corporate Procurement team and key stakeholders to develop and execute procurement category and risk management strategies that support Business Unit objectives.

Through excellent communication and collaboration skills, this role will ensure that sourcing and risk management strategies are aligned with the overarching TreeHouse business strategies, focused on generating continued value to the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop category and commodity risk management strategies, while demonstrating the ability to translate the strategies into actionable roadmaps and plans.
  • Provide clear and concise market condition updates and the impact of changes in the market to the Company’s commodity risk exposure to the Procurement Leadership Team.
  • Assure strategic sourcing opportunities and hedging activities are prioritized and executed.
  • Execute strategies to manage price risk related to underlying commodity markets and industry dynamics.
  • Collaboratively share knowledge and skills in category management, risk management (price and supply security), and negotiations within Supply Chain.
  • Manage supplier relationships including KPIs, conduct quarterly business reviews, negotiate contracts and pricing, and serve as a corporate and plant representative in dealings with suppliers.
  • Responsible for complex category management, including identifying and leading strategic sourcing events.
  • Responsible for annual and monthly financial forecasts for ingredient categories and underlying commodity positions, as well as reporting purchase price variance and mark-to-market valuations.
  • Stay abreast of the latest contracting processes and technologies that have implications for strategic sourcing.
  • Continually monitor, analyze, and assess pricing and delivery trends that impact category spend and continuous communication with Procurement leadership, Finance, and Manufacturing.
  • Communicate category strategies, risk management strategies, and gain alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • Produce purchasing recommendations at targeted price levels, quantities, and timeframes.
  • Coordinate with the Continuous Improvement Team, internal stakeholders, and suppliers to develop a continuous improvement pipeline and action plans to deliver ongoing value to the organization.
  • Ensure completion of accurate spend analysis and execute long-term, sustainable strategies that create productivity.
  • Resolve vendor disputes with suppliers related to purchasing activities.
  • Ensure that all contracts and associated suppliers are compliant with corporate policy.
  • Ensure all risk management activities are reported and compliant to corporate policy.
  • Ensure suppliers agree to specifications generated for approved materials.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in the food manufacturing industry is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of risk management experience with physical commodities and/or financial derivatives is required.
  • Experience with financial derivative trading and reporting required.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and leading cross-functional projects is required.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and e-RFQ is preferred.
  • A thorough understanding of manufacturing and supply chains as well as how materials are utilized by TreeHouse required.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to solve problems creatively are required.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills are required.
  • Must enjoy working in a collaborative and team-oriented environment in a mid-sized organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, is required.

Pay

The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $97,500.00 - 146,300.00 USD annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.
