Responsibilities

  • Manage CNC machining personnel responsible for machine setup, machining operations, inspection, and production activities.
  • Assign machining resources, establish production priorities, and manage daily machining operations to achieve safety, quality, cost, schedule, and delivery objectives.
  • Evaluate operational risks, staffing requirements, machining challenges, equipment utilization, and production capacity while directing timely resolution of manufacturing issues.
  • Oversee CNC machining activities including machine setup, tooling, production scheduling, equipment utilization, machining readiness, and manufacturing performance.
  • Ensure machining operations comply with engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, manufacturing procedures, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Monitor production performance, machining metrics, equipment utilization, tooling performance, and operational effectiveness while implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, production control, supply chain, and operations teams to support machining activities and production objectives.
  • Communicate machining performance, operational risks, staffing requirements, resource needs, and production status to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Develop machining personnel through coaching, mentoring, performance management, workforce planning, and employee development.
  • Establish machining processes, production procedures, safety practices, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting operational objectives.
  • Evaluate machining performance, production processes, quality metrics, equipment utilization, and manufacturing methods while implementing improvements that strengthen machining capabilities.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, machining efficiency, cost performance, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7–9 years of related experience in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, industrial technology, mechanical engineering, operations management, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in CNC machining operations, precision machining, manufacturing processes, GD&T, and shop floor operations.
  • Expertise managing CNC machining personnel, production schedules, machining resources, tooling, and operational performance.
  • Strong understanding of machining methods, cutting tools, equipment utilization, quality systems, lean manufacturing, safety requirements, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Demonstrates the ability to balance safety, quality, cost, schedule, staffing, equipment utilization, and operational priorities across machining operations.
  • Exercises sound judgment when managing personnel, resolving operational challenges, and supporting manufacturing objectives.
  • Expertise in CNC machine controls and manufacturing software, e.g. Haas, Fanuc, Mazatrol, Siemens, or equivalent systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing execution systems (MES), ERP systems, and production management applications, e.g. Epicor, SAP, Solumina, or equivalent applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
