Manager Clinical Documentation Integrity- Clinical Doc Improvement

The MetroHealth System is redefining health care by going beyond medical treatment to improve the foundations of community health and well-being. Founded in 1837, Cuyahoga County’s safety-net health system operates four hospitals, four emergency departments and more than 20 health centers.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and manages the system-wide day-to-day operations of the CDI (Clinical Documentation Integrity) program.
• Manages the activities of and provides leadership to the CDI professionals in the organization.
• Acts as a liaison and subject matter expert for hospital / medical staff in matters of DRG assignment, quality, and complete clinical documentation.
• Maintains information systems supporting the CDI department.
• Manages CDI quality, productivity, workflow, and performance activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with clinical documentation integrity in an acute care hospital setting.
• Knowledge of regulations and guidelines pertaining to documentation.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills including excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of management and medical providers.
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to conduct basic research, analyze and interpret data, evaluate processes, and propose solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Registered Nurse in State of Ohio.
• Master’s degree in related field.
• Proficiency with computerized encoder and CDI technology.
• One or more of the following active credentials: 3M or 3M 360 CDIP (Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner) – AHIMA CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation and Certification) - ACDIS.

Physical Demands

• May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating.
• May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing.
• Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
• Ability to read job related documents.
• Ability to use computer.
