Manager, Clinical Documentation Integrity

About the Role

We’re searching for a Manager of Clinical Documentation Integrity who thrives in a fast-paced setting. This position focuses on department-level collaboration with physician groups and Physician Revenue Advisors, emphasizing clinical quality. The role includes implementing and training new and existing software applications, performing tertiary-level reviews of accounts, analyzing data, and creating processes for improvement and efficiency. You will work closely with team members to audit their work, identify education opportunities, and support physician education. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Coding and Quality teams on initiatives and special projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent and retrospective tertiary-level reviews on specific types of opportunities.
• Run and review reports from multiple sources, analyze data and key metrics to identify potential opportunities for CDI staff and physicians.
• Strategize approaches and process refinements to capture opportunities within the CDS team, including prioritization and assignment.
• Track progress of the CDI team in capturing opportunities and prioritizing workload effectively.
• Develop and oversee new hire training and orientation programs for new CDSs.
• Track technology issues with process tools and coordinate with IS on updates.
• Monitor the query escalation process, CDS/Coder collaboration, and related workflows.
• Lead weekly huddles or monthly meetings for CDI and Coding teams.
• Provide feedback and educational growth opportunities for the overall CDI program.
• Provide feedback to physician advisor(s) on provider engagement and response.
• Support the creation and presentation of targeted physician education.
• Manage, ensure competencies, and evaluate the activities of assigned staff.
• Report and analyze data for the CDI program.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• One of the following licenses/certifications (required):
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact.
  • RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
  • RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician by the American Health Information Management Association.
  • CCS - Certified Coding Specialist by the American Health Information Management Association.
  • CPC - Certified Professional Coder by the American Association of Professional Coders.
  • CCDS - Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist by the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists.
  • CDIP - Certified Clinical Documentation Improvement Professional by the American Health Information Management Association.
• 4 years of clinical documentation experience (required).
• 7 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting (required).
• Supervisory experience (preferred).
