About the Role

Under the general direction of the Director of Information Systems, provides assistance and coordination to information systems end users. This includes analyzing business process and user requirements, planning and designing interfaces, managing system upgrades and/or enhancements, testing applications, writing application-related documentation, and resolving system issues and problems. Supervises the work of others.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Information Systems Director to ensure seamless utilization of clinical application processes and systems.
  • Manages clinical application staff, including recommendations on hiring, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Serves on committees as assigned.
  • Communicates professionally with visitors, employees, medical staff, and guests; acts as a liaison.
  • Serves as systems expert for assigned business lines; meets with users to determine service quality.
  • Researches and analyzes computerized system methods and best practices; recommends solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Provides direct operational support; determines system and application configurations for assigned business lines.
  • Coordinates planning, design, and deployment of new installations, upgrades, enhancements, and disaster/recovery procedures.
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation; assigns issue priorities and meets project deadlines using IS Helpdesk software.
  • Works closely with IS technical personnel for planning and problem resolution.
  • Collaborates with Quality and Interoperability teams to ensure hospital compliance with requirements.
  • Conducts informal education of end users on network operations and applications; promotes standard operating practices.
  • Assesses training needs among system users and actively participates in training activities.
  • Reports to the hospital for on-site problem resolution when remote solutions are insufficient.
  • Completes special projects as requested by the IS Director.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates advanced technical knowledge and abilities with computer software, software design and development, hardware, equipment assembly, and installation.
  • Proficient in installing, operating, adapting, diagnosing, and repairing application software malfunctions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to record and interpret information accurately.
  • Handles multiple duties simultaneously; uses independent judgment and technical information to solve problems.

Qualifications

  • Education: Requires general knowledge acquired through a four-year college education or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum five years in a directly related Information System role. Previous experience in assigned business lines and/or healthcare setting highly desirable.
