About the role

The Business Development Manager drives market position and achievement of business outcomes through Account Management and Commercial Operations. This core sales position is responsible for new business and clients, as well as managing and leveraging existing accounts, driving results through individual and team sales efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and planning through extensive knowledge of market conditions within assigned locations, countries, market sectors, and/or products.
  • Sell ABS services using the strength of local affiliates’ business structure.
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships, focusing on maintaining current work and expanding new business opportunities.
  • Prospect for new clients and business opportunities within your assigned responsibility.
  • Lead the development of visit plans for assigned clients and area of responsibility, including organizing client meetings for ABS senior management.
  • Maintain awareness of the overall ABS service portfolio and promote services/products when appropriate, ensuring peers and teams are aware of potential opportunities.
  • Work with organizational teams to develop capture strategies, proposals, and pricing as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with technical staff and other internal teams to meet customer needs.
  • Provide strategic insight within the assigned area related to future business initiatives, market drivers, and competitor activities for inclusion in business planning.
  • Identify opportunities for marketing campaigns within the area of responsibility to increase sales.
  • Submit reports as needed and ensure data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM.
  • Forecast sales targets and track activity on accounts to meet these targets.
  • Travel regularly (50%+) to client sites and project locations as a core part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited university, or equivalent business/quality-related experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the industry is preferred.
  • Business experience in the manufacturing and/or technical service industry.

Skills

  • Self-motivated professional with a track record of sales leadership.
  • High energy with a commitment to succeed in sales and business development.
  • Proficient with computers, including preparing presentations, communications, and working within ABS QE’s operating platforms.
  • Familiarity with management systems or the ability to learn new areas quickly.
  • Sensitivity to multicultural environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with both customers and the sales team.
  • Result-focused with a strong desire to achieve objectives despite challenges.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.

Pay

$130k - $140k

Reports directly to the Director of Business Development or a senior-level manager.
