Manager - Business Development - Partnerships
About the role
The Manager - Business Development - Partnerships role at Mayo Clinic supports the mission of Mayo Clinic Business Development. This position involves direct support for Mayo Clinic's business development efforts, leading projects, and representing the department in various interactions.
Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, analyze, and develop new business opportunities for Mayo Clinic, including partnerships, joint ventures, new company spin-offs, investments, mergers, and acquisitions.
- Work with Mayo Clinic and the marketplace to identify new business opportunities, aligning with Mayo Clinic's strategic plan, prioritized market opportunities, and competitive activity.
- Contribute to building a network of industry, entrepreneurial, and investor contacts to support business development and commercialization activities.
- Collaborate with team members across the Partnerships, Commercialization, and Technology Development Work Units.
- Manage workflows and resources to achieve desired project outcomes, particularly in the areas of Health Information Technology (HIT)/AI and Medical Devices.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in business, science, or related field, or an advanced degree preferred, with two years of specific experience related to the role and area of work.
- A Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience.
- Three years of experience directly related to technology licensing for roles within the Commercialization Work Unit.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact with diverse groups, strong project management and time management skills, entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial qualities, strong analytical skills, resourcefulness, and ability to work independently.
Skills & Qualifications
- Relationship and deal sourcing, business plan creation, concept analysis, business model development, financial pro-forma development and analysis, and business principles.
- Due diligence, market research, marketing plan development, legal/regulatory issues assessment, monitoring product/operating unit performance, technical sales, evaluation of medical technologies, negotiations, contract drafting, evaluation of scientific and commercialization potential of cutting-edge technologies, and knowledge of science, clinical or bench research, laws and regulations that relate to the patenting and licensing of inventions.
- Experience with healthcare IT, AI, and/or Medical Devices.

Mayo Clinic offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and pre-tax savings options. The position is exempt and offers a salary range of $134,347 - $194,750 per year.
