Responsibilities
- Promote Family Farm and Home's mission statement and family values.
- Drive sales and profits through merchandising, inventory management, expense control, human resource management, and controlling operating costs.
- Maintain a highly motivated team by hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and firing team members; planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results.
- Manage store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning team members; following up on work results.
- Provide feedback to the office, including buyers, district managers, and other company officials.
- Full profit and loss accountability for individual store locations.
- Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers.
- Establish relationships and support local community groups consistent with company values.
- Ensure availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts; maintaining inventories.
- Manage and protect all inventory and company assets in accordance with company policy against theft and damage.
- Verify merchandise is received, stored, and merchandised in all departments according to established operational and safety procedures.
- Protect employees and customers and maintain the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements and providing a safe and clean store environment.
- Help determine marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
- Initiate, coordinate, and enforce operational and personnel policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage with limited supervision.
- Good oral and written communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and other associates.
- Comfortable in the hiring and firing of team members.
- Understanding of aggressive customer service and teamwork.
- Management and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret data and use it effectively in assessing and coordinating merchandise and operational aspects.
- Detail-oriented and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store.
- Ability to climb up and down ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
