About the Role

The Asset Protection Manager (APM) supports their assigned store’s business plan and Corporate Asset Protection by providing leadership, expertise, and training to reduce inventory shortage and controllable losses. The APM must demonstrate core competencies in leadership, supervision, partnership development, and technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and communicate the overall Asset Protection/Loss Prevention (AP/LP) effort and shortage reduction within the store; develop and execute AP plans and shortage programs.
  • Administer and enforce company policies and standards, including recruitment, hiring, training, and development of asset protection associates.
  • Provide job performance counseling and lead the process of shortage plans to ensure they are actionable, measurable, and impact the shortage bottom line.
  • Develop open lines of communication with AP and store associates, central and corporate executives, and build positive business relationships.
  • Drive the company shortage action plan and store-specific shortage reduction strategies across sales and support teams.
  • Audit compliance across all operational and merchandise security standards, including cash office, fine jewelry, and receiving. Influence changes to meet standards in partnership with store leadership.
  • Identify and communicate shortage-related risks due to non-compliance with outbound/inbound receiving, COT/NCTs/RTVs/Damages/CDTs standards.
  • Leverage support process standards to drive productivity and maximize support payroll.
  • Educate and execute emergency preparedness and physical security for associates and customers.
  • Lead the store safety culture and program compliance; complete detailed analysis of all customer/employee accidents to address causes and prevent repetition.
  • Build awareness of theft and fraud mitigation strategies across selling and support teams.
  • Administer and enforce AP policies and standards.
  • Investigate and resolve internal theft cases in partnership with and under the direction of Central AP.
  • Immediately report all non-productive detainments to the Trade Area AP or appropriate Central AP partner.
  • Develop and implement store shortage plans; handle internal investigations and external case management; testify in civil and criminal court proceedings.
  • Maintain and adhere to payroll, expense, and capital budgets; effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Network with local law enforcement, mall management, other retailers, and legal counsel.
  • Provide a safe environment for customers and associates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to identify and communicate site-specific ideas and programs.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and strong interpersonal skills; good follow-up skills.
  • Working knowledge of physical security aspects, including alarms, EAS, CCTV, and lock and key.
  • Ability to make solid business decisions, make recommendations, and implement necessary changes.
  • Highly organized with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Must be a team player.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires periods of walking, standing, communicating, reaching, crouching, color vision, and climbing ladders.
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology, including handheld equipment, cash registers, and processing register transactions.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs.
