Manager, Application Development (Java)

About the role

Our client is seeking a Manager, Application Development (Java) to lead architecture decisions, oversee project delivery, and manage a team of application developers. The ideal candidate is a strong people leader with excellent communication skills and a track record of building high-performing engineering teams. This is an onsite position based in Westchester County, NY.

Responsibilities

• Own application architecture decisions and technical direction across the Java-based technology stack
• Lead and manage a team of developers delivering complex software solutions using Java, Angular, and AWS
• Oversee end-to-end project delivery, including scoping, staffing, and timeline management
• Manage project budgets ranging from $500K to $2M
• Champion the adoption of AI and AI-first development practices across the team
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical delivery with business goals

Qualifications and skills

• At least 8 years of professional experience, progressing from hands-on development into a lead or managerial role
• Solid background building and leading teams that deliver complex software solutions using Java, Angular, and AWS technologies
• Experience leveraging AI and AI-first development approaches
• Proven experience planning projects, including staffing and budget management for projects between $500K and $2M
• Strong architectural mindset with a focus on scalable, maintainable systems
• Demonstrated ability to balance technical oversight with people management responsibilities

Pay

Starting at $150,000/year.
