About the role

The Manager will lead and support efforts that contribute to the goals of the department in alignment with the organization's vision, mission, and values. They will build and retain an effective team through recruitment, provision of quality training, and scheduled performance reviews to promote expertise. The Manager will instill organizational values in team members by consistently modeling and reinforcing standards of professional behavior and HRO principles. They will cultivate the professional growth and development of department leaders and team members through the creation and implementation of development plans. The Manager will perform regular rounds with staff to enhance employee engagement and celebrate success.

Responsibilities

  • Build and retain an effective team through recruitment, provision of quality training, and conducting scheduled performance reviews to promote expertise.
  • Instill organizational values in team members by consistently modeling and reinforcing standards of professional behavior and HRO principles.
  • Cultivate the professional growth and development of department leaders and team members such as through the creation and implementation of development plans.
  • Perform regular rounds with staff to enhance employee engagement and celebrate success.
  • Execute corrective action plans and progressive discipline policies as necessary in collaboration with appropriate department leadership and human resources personnel.
  • Ensure staff adherence to human resources policies (e.g., mandatory training, occupational health and safety requirements).
  • Evaluate practice alignment with regulatory and policy expectations through regular audits and direct observation.
  • Oversee clinical and operational processes within the department and ensure these processes provide safe, cost-effective, and efficient medication management.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of policies and procedures and implement changes as appropriate to ensure compliance with regulatory and policy expectations.
  • Develop and maintain expertise relevant to the position (e.g., national best practices, practice advancement, innovative initiatives).
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members across the health system.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or equivalent required. Advanced degree (e.g. MS, MHA, MBA) preferred.
  • Experience: Five years of relevant pharmacy experience and two years of leadership or supervisory experience is required. Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program, and if available, a PGY2 program in an area relevant to the position are preferred and may completely or partially fulfill the above experience requirements.
  • Licensure: Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in the state(s) as determined by the scope of the position is required. Board certification is preferred if certification relevant to the position is available.
