About the role

The Air Import Manager oversees the importation of goods by air, ensuring efficient and timely delivery while maintaining strong relationships with customers and vendors. This role involves managing import processes, compliance with regulations, and collaboration with internal teams to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the importation of goods by air, including carrier selection, booking, and transportation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as logistics, finance, and operations to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and third-party service providers to optimize cargo delivery.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries promptly to maintain satisfaction and trust.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including customs regulations and trade laws.
  • Stay updated on changes in air freight regulations and import controls.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.
  • Identify and execute process improvements to reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including cargo delivery times, costs, and service quality.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Supervise a team of air import coordinators and support staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in air imports and supervisory roles is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with air freight regulations, customs requirements, and export controls.
  • Knowledge of shipping routes and schedules.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with logistics and air cargo management systems.

Working Conditions

  • Work is generally sedentary, with no specific need for physical coordination or effort. May require occasional standing, walking, or lifting for everyday activities.
  • Hours can be extensive and occasionally staggered for multi-shift access.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer and telephone equipment.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision and distance vision.
  • Minimal travel may be required domestically and internationally.
  • The work environment is usually low to moderate noise, with rare exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.

Pay

For this position, the expected base pay range is $78,000 to $98,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
