About the role
The Accreditation Manager is a full-time professional position responsible for the accreditation of member programs of the ACPE (Association of Clinical Pastoral Education) Commission on Accrediting (COA). This role involves facilitating accrediting relationships, providing education and support to member programs, supporting the COA Board of Commissioners, and maintaining collegial relationships with assigned member programs. The Accreditation Manager is an employee of ACPE with principal assignment to the Commission on Accrediting and may occasionally work in other areas of ACPE.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the accrediting relationship with member programs through visits and other accrediting-related activities, including:
- Consulting with the program and arranging dates for visits
- Identifying and securing peer reviewers
- Reviewing the program's documents
- Traveling to the program to provide on-site counsel to the site team
- Reviewing the preparation of the site team report
- Serving as liaison to the Board of Commissioners regarding assigned accrediting reviews
- Staying abreast of trends in accreditation and clinical pastoral education that may affect COA member programs
- Provide education and support to member programs about the process of accreditation, including:
- Training in the preparation of self-study reports and accreditation reviews
- Education regarding the understanding and interpretation of the Standards, Policies, and Procedures
- Training peer reviewers to conduct accreditation visits
- Support the work of the Board of Commission on Accrediting by:
- Preparing agenda materials for the meetings of the Board of Commissioners
- Providing counsel to the Board regarding possible accrediting actions
- Reviewing program-specific accrediting histories, requests, and reports to the Board
- Making accreditation decisions as delegated by the Board and in accordance with the COA Policies and Procedures
- Taking follow-up actions as deemed appropriate by the Board
- Orienting and educating new Board members
- Maintain collegial and supportive relationships as the organizational liaison to an assigned subset of COA member programs, including regular and proactive interaction with program personnel. This may include, but is not limited to, advising on petitions for substantive changes and assisting with the interpretation of accreditation standards.
- Contribute to the professional development programs and services offered by ACPE.
- Maintain involvement with the broader community of spiritual care education.

- Preferred education: Master’s degree
