Job Summary

The Manager Budget & Accounting supports the Executive Director of Accounting & Financial Planning in overseeing the College’s budgeting and accounting functions. This role focuses on day-to-day operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and ensuring transactions are in compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and College's policies and procedures.

Job Duties

  • Manages the day-to-day accounting functions which include chart of accounts maintenance, property accounting, general ledger, bank accounts, and sponsored grant funds reconciliations.
  • Maintains expenditure controls and budget needs through analysis of monthly department budgeting and accounting reports.
  • Supports forecasting efforts by analyzing budgeting and accounting reports.
  • Monitors expenditures and ensures compliance with policies.
  • Manages grants accounting and reimbursement processes, prepares reimbursement requests and financial status reports according to contract, agency, and college procedures, and reconciles grant sponsored accounts.
  • Prepares annual financial statements, budget reports, and financial analyses.
  • Manages budget process for position control system.
  • Provides individual and group training on the Banner financial system, including its reporting tools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of accounting and/or budgeting experience.
  • Expert in use of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting, GASB, and FASB reporting and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Experience in higher education or public sector finance.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Tennessee Board of Regents Annual Budget Reporting Requirements.
