Manager 3, Software Engineering
About the role
Join the Intuit Design System (IDS) organization as a Group Manager of Software Development (M3), leading the evolution of IDS from a centrally managed design system into a scalable, self-service platform that enables product teams and AI agents to build and ship high-quality, brand-consistent, accessible UI. IDS is a high-impact platform used across Intuit, spanning component and runtime foundations, governed tokens and assets, AI-native development, and automated migration and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams and technical leaders across web, mobile, platform infrastructure, and AI-native tooling.
- Partner with product, design, architecture, and platform teams to define strategic roadmaps, sequence investments, and manage complex cross-organizational dependencies.
- Drive scalable component and runtime foundations with strong versioning, backward compatibility, release safety, and independently managed dependencies.
- Champion AI-native and self-service development through paved roads, machine-readable component contracts, AI skills, MCP-based tooling, agentic workflows, and generative UI.
- Scale governance through extensible tokens and themes, automated policy enforcement, migration tooling, linting, dashboards, and drift detection.
- Drive operational excellence through strong reliability, observability, incident management, and platform health, adoption, and performance metrics.
- Foster a strong engineering culture focused on technical excellence, customer empathy, accountability, and sustainable execution across concurrent workstreams.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including experience managing engineers or engineering teams.
- Proven track record building or operating shared platforms, developer infrastructure, design systems, or component libraries consumed by many teams.
- Strong technical depth in architecture, API design, platform reliability, versioning strategies, staged rollouts, and breaking-change management for widely consumed systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-team initiatives with significant cross-organizational dependencies while balancing near-term delivery, technical debt, and long-term maintainability.
- Experience with modern web or mobile technologies such as React, TypeScript, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, and CI/CD practices.
- Applied AI fluency, with experience using generative AI, agentic systems, AI-assisted code generation, or MCP-based tooling to improve developer workflows.
- Experience with self-service developer tooling, including code generation, automated migrations, linting, policy-as-code, design tokens, theming, or asset pipelines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical leaders and treat internal developers as customers.
