Management Training Program, Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and control available resources associated with the timely, damage-free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts.
• Maintain appropriate load plan and ensure proper load balance for safe vehicle operation.
• Assign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedules.
• Cookordinate work assignments and monitor performances.
• Provide training, performance feedback, and disciplinary recommendations, as needed.
• Provide a clean, safe working environment for all personnel and visiting customers.
• Foster safe handling, loading, unloading, and storage of hazardous materials.
• Provide support for sales efforts by accompanying account managers on client presentations.
• Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
• Support ABF Freight’s values-driven culture focused on creativity, integrity, collaboration, growth, excellence, and wellness.
• Perform other duties and projects, as assigned.

Requirements

• Educational background: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, preferred.
• Computer skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required.
• Additional requirements: General knowledge of freight, imports, exports, and proper freight handling techniques, preferred.
• Additional requirement: Willingness to relocate, required.

About the role

This 20-week program trains participants on every aspect of ABF Freight and ArcBest operations from a service center perspective. Participants will be placed in one of 240 facilities across the continental US as an Operations Supervisor after completing the training.

Qualifications

Participants must be willing to relocate to one of ABF Freight’s 240 nationwide Service Centers.
