MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE
About the role
The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking a Management Associate to serve the DPSCS Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Deputy Director of Clinical Services. This position requires regular independent judgment and analysis when applying and interpreting administrative plans and/or policies.
Responsibilities
- Serves assigned programs, primarily the morbidity/mortality program and the Public Information Act (PIA) representation for Clinical Services.
- Serves as a liaison between Clinical Services and DPSCS Commissioners, Wardens, other programs and offices within the department, and contracted health care vendors.
- Receives and processes all notifications of death of individuals under DPSCS custody, coordinating with contracted medical vendors, Agency Contract Operations Managers, and the Intelligence and Investigative Division.
- Processes all PIA requests directed to Clinical Services and supports the Chief Medical Officer's office by gathering and providing relevant information in response to media requests.
- Drafts memoranda on behalf of the CMO and Deputy Director of Clinical Services, manages meeting schedules, takes minutes, and coordinates responses to family/constituent complaints.
- Maintains Excel databases for incarcerated individuals' deaths and PIA requests.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- Five years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.
- Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration or Personnel Specialist classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Special Assistant or Secretarial fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in creating reports and storing data in Via Microsoft Excel & Word.
- Experience managing correspondence from Incarcerated Individuals and/or their families.
Special Requirements
Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
