Job Summary

Performs specialized mammography examinations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Operates specialized imaging equipment and performs all required mammography procedures while providing skilled clinical care through appropriate technical expertise and sound clinical judgment.

Job Requirements

• Education and Work Experience:
  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology: Required
  • Experience as a Mammography Technologist: Preferred
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Radiologic Tech (RT) and Mammography Technologist: Required in CA
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Radiography (ARRT-R): Required
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Mammography (ARRT-M): Required in CA
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification from an approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Fluoroscopy license: Preferred in CA
  • Venipuncture certification: Preferred in CA
• Facility Specific License/Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
  • Fluoroscopy (FLUORO): Required
  • Mammographic Radiologic Technology (MRT): Required

Essential Functions

• Educates patients regarding mammography procedures while promoting patient privacy and comfort.
• Follows infection control practices and safety guidelines.
• Performs diagnostic and screening mammograms as ordered.
• Prepares for and assists the Radiologist with complex mammography procedures, including breast biopsies.
• Produces high-quality mammographic images for radiologist interpretation and completes all required documentation.
• Obtains pertinent patient information and communicates patient preparation instructions to appropriate patient care areas.
• Escalates questions, problems, and significant challenges to senior staff for guidance and subject matter expertise.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
