About the Role

The mammographer performs diagnostic, screening, and interventional mammography procedures, assists physicians during interventional procedures, and practices radiation safety while observing universal precautions. The role includes pursuing professional development for continual improvement of patient care and performing related work as required.

Responsibilities

• Performs all diagnostic and screening mammograms per ACR guidelines and departmental protocols.
• Performs stereotactic biopsies.
• Performs bone density studies (DEXA).
• Communicates the nature of procedures to patients and answers questions to clarify the process.
• Ensures patients' rights and privacy are maintained.

Requirements

• Graduate of a radiologic technology program approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or documented equivalent education.
• Current certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) as an RT(R) and Mammographer (M).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Ability to perform mammography procedures following accepted standards and departmental protocols.
