Mammography Technologist

About the Role

Performs digital mammograms of the breast at a technical level that produces high-quality mammographic images consistent with established policies and procedures, typically requiring general supervision. May perform additional breast imaging procedures.

Responsibilities

• Specializes in the production of screening and diagnostic mammograms for the detection of breast tumors.
• Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster comfort and confidence while ensuring individual patient needs are met.
• Operates and maintains all assigned mammography equipment to ensure proper functionality.
• Positions patients and adjusts mammographic equipment to specific positions, setting exposure factors based on radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
• Correctly captures images as requested by a physician.
• Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self.
• Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms, and records in both paper and electronic formats.
• Ensures an adequate supply of consumables for quality testing.
• Performs routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks on all imaging equipment following established protocols.
• May assist other areas of Radiology as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiology Technology.
• Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
• Certified in Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
• Current BLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in radiology.

Schedule

Full-time, variable daily work times. 72 hours per pay period. No on-call requirement. No weekends.
