About the Role
Performs digital mammograms of the breast at a technical level that produces high-quality mammographic images consistent with established policies and procedures, typically requiring general supervision. May perform additional breast imaging procedures.
Responsibilities
- Specializes in the production of screening and diagnostic mammograms for the detection of breast tumors.
- Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster comfort and confidence while ensuring individual patient needs are met.
- Operates and maintains all assigned mammography equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Positions patients and adjusts mammographic equipment to specific positions, setting exposure factors based on radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
- Correctly captures images as requested by a physician.
- Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self.
- Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms, and records in both paper and electronic formats.
- Ensures an adequate supply of consumables for quality testing.
- Performs routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks on all imaging equipment following established protocols.
- May assist other areas of Radiology as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiology Technology.
- Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
- Certified in Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
- Current BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in radiology.
Schedule
Full-time, variable daily work times. 72 hours per pay period. No on-call requirement. No weekends.
