About the Role
The Mammography Technologist performs specialized examinations of the breast to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. This role may include both screening and diagnostic exams, and involves direct supervision and collaboration with the Senior Supervisor in alignment with Louisiana Women’s Healthcare policies and mission.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and provide instructions and education regarding exam procedures.
- Perform diagnostic or screening mammograms as ordered by physicians.
- Strictly adhere to all MQSA, FDA, and Louisiana State Laws regarding imaging.
- Promote patient comfort and privacy during examinations.
- Produce high-quality digital images for radiologist evaluation.
- Serve as the primary liaison between patients, Radiologists, and other support team members.
- Complete appropriate documentation in electronic medical records systems.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with coworkers.
Requirements
Education & Certification
- Associate’s Degree required.
- ARRT Radiologic Technologist Certification and Advanced Level Mammography Certification required.
- Louisiana State License required.
Knowledge
- Human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Community standards related to MQSA quality assurance.
- Radiologic equipment and testing procedures.
- Safety hazards related to radiology.
- HIPAA compliance.
Skills
- Properly positioning patients to ensure quality imaging.
- Operating Mammography equipment.
Abilities
- Understand and interpret policies and regulations.
- Examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with managers, peers, and direct reports.
- Follow policies and procedures as directed by Supervisors.

- Work is primarily indoors in a controlled, fast-paced, and sometimes stressful environment.
- Exposure to radiation, noise, infectious/communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, fumes, odors, gases, and dust.
- Frequent interaction with distressed patients, families, or visitors.
- Requires manual dexterity for data entry and computer use.
- Requires visual and auditory ability to communicate clearly with patients and family members.
- Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Other functions may be assigned, and management retains the right to add or change duties as needed.
