About the role
The Mammography Technologist operates radiologic equipment and performs mammography procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease. The mammography tech is responsible for detecting breast tissue abnormalities by completing mammographic imaging studies; presenting them for diagnosis.
Essential Functions
- Perform/produce quality radiography and mammography exams in a safe and proper manner with all patients
- Takes general x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety
- Scan all necessary documents into the appropriate database for interpretation from the radiologist
- Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures; explaining equipment; answering questions
- Applies principals of radiation to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others
Other Job Related Functions
- Practices aseptic/sterile techniques to prevent cross contamination
- Clean the exam room and equipment after use and/or every patient
- Operates imaging equipment and other related radiology equipment such as computers, copier, scanners, fax machine, and printer
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures
- Aid with registering patients, scheduling appointments, and importing and exporting CD's and reports
- Aid coworkers with their duties
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Must have received a Certificate of completion from an allied health education and accreditation (AMA) accredited radiology program which meets requirements of the American Registry of Radiological Technologists
- Experience: 1 year of experience performing screening and diagnostic mammograms, 1+ year of experience in radiology setting
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have excellent oral/written communication skills

- Transportation Requirement: Must have Reliable Transportation
- Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
