Mammography Technologist

Full-time position located in Brattleboro, Vermont.

About the Role

Under the direction of the Director and Manager of Radiology and the Medical Director, the Mammography Technologist performs mammography procedures, ensures patient care and safety during mammographic exams, and operates mammographic equipment.

The Radiology Department at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides consultative services in diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, computed tomography, interventional radiography, MRI, bone density, and mammography. Services are available 24/7 to inpatients, outpatients, and emergency room patients of all ages. The department also handles quality control, quality assurance, marketing, and continuing education for staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography procedures.
• Ensure patient care and safety during mammographic exams.
• Operate and maintain mammographic equipment.
• Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Protect patients and staff from harmful radiation.
• Transport patients as needed.
• Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, such as using a keyboard, writing, filing, and developing films.

Requirements

• Graduation from a formal AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• Previous experience in all areas of Radiologic Technology, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Certification by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), except for technologists credentialed through state certification hired prior to January 1, 2000.
• Mammography and QA Certification.
• CPR Certification.
• Licensed by the State of Vermont.
• Ability to work in bright and low-lighted environments, including darkrooms.
• Moderate physical demands, including lifting patients and equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Mobility requirements, including the ability to squat, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Hand-eye coordination for tasks such as data entry and film development.

Skills

• Ability to transport patients.
• Proficiency in writing and filing for extended periods.
• Ability to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations (e.g., keyboard use, writing, filing).
• Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM EST. No weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts.

Pay

Salary range: $41.00 to $59.73 per hour.
