About the role

Operate Mammography equipment to produce diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physicians, and perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices. Responsible for providing patient education and quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient and adjust equipment for taking x-rays.
  • Position and instruct patient regarding procedures.
  • Use protective devices to protect parts of the body not in the central ray and to reduce exposure to radiation.
  • Use immobilization devices in accordance with standard practice (compression device).
  • Maintain registry and evidence of continuing education as required by MDPH and ACR.
  • Perform quality control and assurance reports as outlined in the State (MDPH) Mammography rules.
  • Process images and use proper identification techniques to ensure proper labeling.
  • Log patient technical factors and pertinent information in various computer databases.
  • Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
  • Assist in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies. Keep work areas clean and document daily logs.
  • Attend In-Service meetings and other required meetings.
  • Enhance professional growth through educational programs, conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Perform general diagnostic x-ray exams as needed/assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography and mammography.
  • CPR certified. Minimum of AHA Heart Saver certification or BLS required.
  • Minimum two years of radiography experience.
  • Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences.

Skills

  • Ability to make independent judgments regarding breast tissue anatomy and technique.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations.
  • Adept at customer service.
  • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as required to perform essential duties.
