About the role
A Mammographer responsible for producing high-quality mammographic images under the clinical direction of a Radiologist.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and diagnostic mammograms, including obtaining patient history, reviewing prior images, and applying shielding and immobilization devices.
- Operate and maintain mammography equipment, computers, and departmental tools.
- Ensure film quality, patient safety, and adherence to radiation safety guidelines.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients, adapting care based on age and individual needs.
- Collaborate with physicians and staff for optimal patient care and departmental operations.
- Participate in quality control, assurance, and improvement activities.
- Train and instruct staff, new employees, and students in mammography procedures and technical skills.
- Support departmental workflow by preparing rooms and reviewing images for clinical acceptability.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
- Current mammography registration within 12 months of hire and certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Knowledge of radiologic safety, patient care, and technical operation of mammographic equipment.
- Meet current MQSA (FDA) regulations for mammographers.
- Ability to provide patient-centered care, work collaboratively, and maintain quality standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Preferred: 2+ years of radiographer or mammographer experience.
