About the role

This role focuses on using various imaging techniques and practices to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, with a specialization in Mammography. The position involves evaluating physical conditions related to medical imaging of breast tissue. It is an experienced-level clinical technologist role requiring specialized knowledge or skills gained through vocational education, training, and experience. Works under moderate supervision, handling routine problems but may require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide variety of mammography services for patients in accordance with physician orders, with minimal supervision.
• Identifies patient and reviews each requisition for consistency with clinical diagnosis and demographic information.
• Records patient history accurately, noting unusual conditions, limitations, or difficulties.
• Anticipates and responds appropriately to patient needs, ensuring personal dignity.
• Reviews each examination for technical accuracy and ensures no technically inadequate films are submitted.
• Takes additional views as needed and ensures proper anatomical orientation and film identification.
• Follows facility protocols for exam routines and produces quality studies efficiently and timely.
• Operates all equipment competently and uses ancillary apparatus as required.
• Performs Quality Assurance (QA) procedures in accordance with ACR, MQSA, State, and JACHO standards.
• Organizes patient care and sets priorities, providing critical care first.
• Initiates applicable “variance reports” by end of shift and reports incomplete or incorrect orders.
• Reports equipment failures and safety hazards immediately.
• Delivers competent care to adult patients, with emphasis on geriatric patient needs.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved School of Radiological Technology.
• Mammography state license.
• Mammography Technologist Certification (ARRT).
• Two (2) years of experience as a Mammographer.

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally sitting, frequent standing, walking, and lifting of 15+ lbs.
• Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate radiology equipment.
• Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations, observe patients, read monitors, and documents.
• Ability to hear equipment alarms.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $41.80 - $53.19 per hour. Individual offers are determined using a comprehensive approach that considers relevant experience, certifications, education, skills, and internal equity.
