Principal Job Functions

  • Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • Performs all types of mammography studies to include screening, diagnostic and interventional procedures; practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.
  • Uses sterile technique as required.
  • Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
  • Competently operates all mammography equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS, performs and evaluates images for technical quality.
  • Adheres to all state and federal regulatory requirements and accreditation (American College of Radiology) requirements; provides proper documentation for regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Utilizes department computer systems and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
  • Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Captures and coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
  • Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
  • Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as required.
  • Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
  • Keeps area properly supplied.
  • Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.

Education And Experience

  • Graduate of a school of radiologic technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • ARRT certification in mammography required within six months of eligibility.
  • Valid state medical radiographer license required.

Other Credentials / Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
