Pay

$33.00 - $46.40 per hour

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and non-routine digital mammography procedures as ordered.
• Computes and selects proper technical factors based on patient size, physical condition, and suspected pathology.
• Prepares each patient for examination by confirming patients’ history and explaining the exam process.
• Communicates patient details and areas of concern to physicians and others as appropriate.
• Enters exam details and charge information into computer.
• Maintains supplies for diagnostic procedures.
• Ensures films and records are properly completed with relevant patient identification data and film labeling requirements.
• Reviews images for technical quality such as density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
• Demonstrates competency performing all mammographic procedures and the operation of all related equipment.
• Maintains logs; processes paperwork for biopsies and utilizes sterile techniques preventing contamination.
• Maintains quality standards as it relates to HIPAA regulations.
• Prepares, adjusts, and cleans equipment and patient exam area.
• Checks equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition and notifies technicians when repairs are needed.
• Follows all safety standards and ensures the physical comfort and safety of patients during procedures.
• Provides the proper protective gear, such as radiation badge monitors, to individuals in the exam area.
• Assists other technologists, Lead technologist, and/or clinical manager with maintaining licensure, accreditation, and preparing for inspections with agencies such as ACR, MQSA, and NYS DOH.
• Provides a positive patient experience; shares information with patients, ensuring they are aware of follow-up steps and requirements.
• Maintains communication with radiologists and other physicians, patients and their families, and other persons.
• Performs daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly QA testing as well as helps keep proper documentation of testing.
• Performs all mammographic images daily in accordance with ACR accreditation guidelines.
• Demonstrates teamwork; interacts in a positive manner with employees and contributes to a collaborative work environment.
• Meets or exceeds deadlines, follows through, demonstrating accountability, flexibility, and adaptability.
• Enhances professional growth and maintains certifications, registration, and active CMEs.
• Provides instruction/mentoring to new hires.
• Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
