About the role
The Mammogram Technologist at El Camino Health Medical Network performs diagnostic breast imaging under the supervision of a certified physician. This position requires a strong background in mammography and experience with PACS and RIS systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform high quality radiologic and mammography exams on incoming patients.
- Maintain patient well-being during exams; recognize and address patient discomfort or medical issues.
- Guide patients through the mammography process and answer their questions and concerns.
- Aid radiologists with procedures such as image-guided breast biopsies, needle localizations, and ductograms.
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging, adjust immobilization devices, determine exposure factors, and operate equipment controls.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Accurately present patient studies for interpretation, including clinical history, physician orders, demographics, and other relevant data.
- Participate in quality control and assurance programs.
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and arrange for repairs as needed.
- Process images and review them for proper identification and quality control.
- Absorb and interpret information provided by radiologists and other qualified physicians.
- Model WeCare principles and adhere to HR, safety, HIPAA, and compliance policies.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree from an AMA-approved school and ARRT registry requirements.
- California Certified Radiologic Technologist License (CRT).
- BLS Certification.
- California Mammography Certificate.
- Two (2) years of clinical experience with Mammography.
- Experience with PACS and RIS systems.
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM).
- Effective communication and active listening skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Flexibility, cooperation, and willingness to assist others.
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination.
Skills
- Proficiency in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) systems.
- Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
