About the role

The Mammography Technologist performs specialized examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in patients. The Mammography Technologist performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Performs quality screening, diagnostic and other mammography procedures.
• Reviews all exam requisitions for pertinent information and makes notes on all additional pertinent information.
• Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all required exams on patients, positioning the patient and equipment, selecting the protocol, technique and utilizing all required equipment.
• Evaluate images for diagnostic quality, obtaining additional images as needed.
• Ensures accuracy of each exam by following established procedures and labeling images correctly.
• Provide Customer Service/Support to patient population.
• Maintains all required records, reports, and files as required by Federal, State and other regulatory agencies.
• Must be competent and proficient to position, select correct protocol and utilize imaging equipment on patients of all age groups for radiological exams, when requested.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program or JRCERT accredited hospital-based training program - Required

Work Experience

• No experience required
• 1 year experience as a Mammography Technologist - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• (R) ARDMS or ARRT - Radiographer Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (R) - ARRT - Upon Hire - Required
• (M) ARDMS or ARRT - Mammography (M) - ARRT - Upon Hire - Required
• BLS - Basic Life Support - Upon Hire - Required
