Role Responsibilities
- Community Outreach & Relationship Building
- Conduct in-person outreach at WIC clinics, FQHC waiting rooms, and CBO program sites across assigned counties
- Build trusted relationships with pregnant and postpartum Medi-Cal members, particularly those who are Black, Indigenous, or from communities of color
- Distribute Malama provider kits, flyers, stands, stickers, and other outreach materials
- Represent Malama at community events including baby showers, health fairs, and partner-hosted convenings
- Identify new local partnership opportunities and share learnings with the Malama team
- Help organize or staff monthly pop-up events, baby supply giveaways, community baby showers, and clinic tabling days
- Cook up basic event logistics with support from the Malama team
- Share photos, learnings, and outcomes from events
- Help gather feedback from moms and community partners on what resources are most needed
Requirements
- Deep ties to and lived experience in the communities served: Sacramento / San Bernardino / Fresno / Los Angeles / Alameda
- Commitment to birth equity, reproductive justice, and culturally congruent care
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with diverse populations
- Comfort with engaging with CBOs, following up, and tracking outreach activities
Preferred
- Current Community Health Worker (CHW) certification OR equivalent community health experience
- Bilingual or multilingual — Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, or other languages spoken in priority counties
- Prior experience with Medi-Cal, WIC, FQHC, or community-based maternal health programs
