About the role
Makerspace Creative Assistants will help with the daily operation of the Wilson Library Makerspace, an experiential learning space. This position supports the usage of 3D printers, laser cutter, Button Maker, Cricut, and Arduino. No prior experience is required; training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Support the operation of the Makerspace equipment (3D printers, laser cutter, Button Maker, Cricut, Arduino).
- Assist users in utilizing the Makerspace tools and technology.
- Maintain a well-organized, detail-oriented, and safe workspace.
- Build supportive working relationships with faculty, staff, and students through strong written and oral communication.
- Take initiative, work independently, and adapt quickly in a busy environment.
Requirements
- Knowledge of computer programs such as Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Interest in learning new skills and technology.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable with strong self-management skills.
- Must be a current ULV student.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technologically savvy.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom).
- Enjoys creating/making (e.g., DIY projects, crafting, painting, drawing, sewing).
- Knowledge of media such as photography or video shooting/editing.
Schedule
This position requires a minimum of 6 hours per week, with potential night and weekend shifts. Flexible work hours are offered based on the student worker’s availability. This is an on-campus position.
