The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is a federally chartered, nonpartisan institution created by the US Congress to serve as America’s national memorial to the victims of the Holocaust and an educational institution dedicated to the history and lessons of the Holocaust. The Museum educates Americans from all 50 states and international audiences, with expertise in Holocaust remembrance, scholarship and education, and genocide prevention. About the role

The Major Gift Officer, Southeast Region, based in the Boca Raton office, is responsible for soliciting gifts and developing fundraising programs in Florida communities, including outreach and cultivation activities to support the Museum’s priority needs. This full-time position is funded by the Museum’s private funds.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for major donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship in Florida.
• Manage and expand a portfolio of 125-150 major gift prospects, focusing on solicitations of $25,000 and higher.
• Expand and deepen commitments from members of the Museum’s annual fund recognition groups, including the Wings of Memory Society ($5,000 - $24,999) and Leadership Circle ($25,000+ giving recognition society).
• Grow the Museum’s donor base through entrepreneurial outreach in Florida, with a focus on Miami-Dade County, Palm Beach, and other key areas.
• Collaborate with the Southeast Regional Director to manage and sustain major Florida-based fundraising events, such as an annual fundraising dinner, volunteer leadership initiatives, and parlor meetings, with a goal of generating over $1.5 million annually.
• Within five years, reach and sustain a personal annual fundraising goal exceeding $1.75 million through high-touch, relationship-based major gifts fundraising.
• Develop a robust Next Generation program to identify, engage, cultivate, and solicit future philanthropic leaders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least four years of successful experience as a major gift fundraiser, with a proven track record of personally soliciting six-figure and higher annual, capital, and endowment gifts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in partnering with internal and external stakeholders as a collaborative team player.
• Experience in the South Florida philanthropic community.
• Proven ability to devise and execute new fundraising strategies, identify new prospect opportunities, and cultivate them to fruition.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Entrepreneurial, creative, and able to execute on new ideas while motivating others.
• A genuine commitment to the values, mission, and ideals of the Museum.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of and experience with the broader regional philanthropic community.
• Familiarity with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Holocaust history.
• Four-year college degree; advanced degree desirable.
• Comfort working in a creative, problem-solving, results- and team-oriented environment.
