Position Summary
Southampton Hospital Foundation seeks a Major Gift Officer to join the organization at a defining moment of growth and transformation. Reporting to the President of the Southampton Hospital Foundation, the role will manage a select portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, focusing on securing six- and seven-figure philanthropic commitments.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a portfolio of approximately 75–100 high-capacity donors and prospects.
- Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans that align donor interests with institutional priorities.
- Build and maintain a disciplined, forward-looking pipeline of leadership and principal gift opportunities.
- Advance donors through the full giving cycle—from qualification and cultivation to solicitation and stewardship—using a disciplined, relationship-driven approach.
- Partner with leadership and Board members to strengthen donor engagement.
- Collaborate with physicians to develop compelling, donor-centered cases for support.
- Represent the Foundation at key events and engagements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and activity tracking.
Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor's Degree: Masters preferred.
- 7+ years of major gift fundraising experience.
- Demonstrated success securing five- and six-figure gifts.
- Experience working with boards and senior leadership.
- Demonstrated success working with volunteers and Board members.
- Healthcare or academic environment preferred.
- Capital campaign experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to engage donors effectively and connect their interests with institutional priorities.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills.
- Thoughtful and disciplined approach to planning and execution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism and discretion.
- Planned giving experience preferred.
