About the Role

We are expanding our Specialized Claims organization and are seeking experienced professionals to join our Major Case Unit. These Fully Remote positions offer a competitive salary range of $105,000–$165,000 depending on experience, technical expertise, and demonstrated ability to manage high-exposure, complex claims. We have multiple openings and are considering candidates across several seniority levels.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead complex case investigations and negotiate high-value claims.
  • Analyze coverage, liability, and financial exposure, and demonstrate mastery in reserving strategy and financial acumen.
  • Manage litigation strategy and develop tailored resolution strategies in conjunction with top-flight defense counsel.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across the claim organization to support the development of other claim professionals through direct mentoring and by modeling ideal adjusting techniques.
  • Evaluate training programs and recommend improvements.
  • Provide relevant reporting to underwriting and reinsurance and collaborate with underwriting, agents, vendors, and legal teams to improve policy language and refine underwriting risk selection.
  • Streamline workflows and correct inconsistencies.
  • Contribute to special projects.
  • Attend industry events and continuing education seminars to stay current on best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • JD preferred or equivalent legal/claims experience.
  • Industry designations (e.g., CPCU, AIC) strongly preferred.
  • Extensive experience handling highly complex, high-value claims with significant legal, financial, and reputational exposure.
  • Recognized authority in negotiation and resolution of complex claims.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing policy coverage, legal liability, and regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to manage litigation strategy and direct counsel.
  • Experience mentoring others and contributing to the development of claims handling standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills combined with the ability to simplify complex information and handle sensitive issues with professionalism.
  • Able to draft clear, factual, and objective work product without opinion.
  • Skilled in selecting appropriate communication channels and demonstrating empathy across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Highly organized with proven ability to manage complex workflows and competing priorities.
  • Strategic thinker with sound judgment and the ability to make informed decisions independently.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to manage a high volume of work is often necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Required to work on-site as needed.
  • May be required to maintain a reliable, high-speed home internet connection for remote work.
  • Ability to work extended hours as business demands require, including evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as necessary for business purposes.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Proficient in using a personal computer and standard office equipment.
