About the role
The annual salary for this position includes an additional $1.50 per hour maximum security differential ($3,120 annually) for all full-time positions domiciled in a maximum-security institution.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic manual maintenance tasks
- Oversee offender workers engaged in related activities
- Receive supervision from a designated supervisor
- Paint building surfaces and equipment
- Patch plastering walls
- Carpentry work on furniture, doors, windows, shelves, and floors
- Unstop toilets and drains
- Replace faucets, valves, washers
- Repair water line leaks
- Replace light bulbs, outlets, switches
- Limited repairs of electrical motors, generators, communication equipment
- Operate basic hand tools and equipment (e.g., mowers, forklifts, string trimmers, light fleet such as utility terrain vehicles)
- Be knowledgeable in the operation, maintenance, and safety practices of maintenance tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Lift and carry heavy objects
- Bend, reach, and climb a ladder
- Provide and follow directions
- Apply technical manual
- Work in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- One or more years of experience relevant/similar to the listed job functions, or completion of a relevant technical training program, or job certification

Schedule
This is an entry-level position accountable for performing basic manual maintenance tasks that can be learned with short on-the-job training. Tasks performed require use of basic hand tools and operation of equipment (e.g., mowers, forklifts, string trimmers, or light fleet such as utility terrain vehicles).
Pay
- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.
