Maintenance Worker - Full Time

Job Summary

This position requires the employee to drive pickup trucks, 4-wheel drive trucks, flatbeds and other motor equipment, up to 10 tons, including but not limited to: bobcats, street brooms, and beach tractors. Labor involves cleaning streets, boardwalk and beach debris, painting curbs and street lines, and installing signs and parking machines. Schedule varies to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Duties

• Operates pick-up trucks, 4-wheel drive trucks, flat beds and other motor equipment up to 10 tons including bobcats, street brooms, beach tractors
• Paints street curbs, buildings, etc.
• Shovels snow and salts/sands sidewalks and roads and city buildings
• Digs and cleans out storm drains, catch basins, culverts and curbs
• Cleans beach and city streets of debris
• Installs road signs and parking machines
• Repairs decking on boardwalks
• Auxiliary duties include assisting in all City special events and other maintenance duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and submit a three-year copy of your driving record.
• Must have one (1) year of satisfactory paid employment in the operation of automotive equipment, trucks, or equipment used in this position.
• Preferred: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Have current DOT physical card or be able to obtain one

• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
