Maintenance Worker (flexible schedule)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Physically and technically able to perform the essential functions of the position
• Boiler maintenance and operations
• Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system maintenance and operations
• Mechanical equipment maintenance and operations
• Small appliance repair
• Basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and outside work
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to read and explain basic operating instructions and blueprints
• Ability to plan work and write reports
• Available to work various shifts as required
• Possess a valid Asbestos Worker's license
• Possess a valid Illinois/Indiana driver's license
• Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities

Exhibit a cheerful and customer service attitude to all staff and student personnel.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, routine building operations, routine grounds maintenance, minor construction, and other maintenance-related work as assigned by the Building Foreman.
• Work in compliance with established safety procedures.
• Inspect facilities to ensure safety and security by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours.
• Keep assigned work area(s) neat and clean at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Position requires employee to reach with hand(s) and arm(s)
• Frequent standing and walking
• Requires ability to use hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear
• Occasionally required to climb ladders and/or balance
• Occasionally required to move and/or lift more than 50 pounds

Benefits

• Starting wage is $28.00/hour plus appropriate shift differential
