Maintenance Worker - Athletics

About the role

This position is primarily responsible for the maintenance and operation of city-owned ballfields and sports facilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains athletic fields and sport courts to include dragging and striping fields, setting bases, mowing, weed eating, cleaning restrooms, and trash removal
• Maintains and repairs area parks and facilities: mowing, weed eating, edging, tree pruning, play structures, pavilions, fencing, lighting, irrigation systems, sidewalks, parking lots, restroom cleaning, tree planting, and trash removal
• Operates and performs minor maintenance of mowers, edgers, blowers, trucks, trailers, utility vehicles, infield rake, and hand tools
• Identifies maintenance repairs and turns in related requests to supervisor
• Completes and submits required paperwork
• Assists with preparation of special events, tournaments, and league practices, including set-up, staging, and clean-up
• Ensures City financial policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are followed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year experience in maintenance or operating related equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• One year experience in landscape, ballfield, or horticulture maintenance or related field
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft applications
• Valid driver’s license
