Reports to: Director of Maintenance & Facilities or designee. FLSA status: Non-exempt. Full-time (1.0 FTE).

About the role

To provide students with a safe, attractive and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.

Responsibilities

  • Performs miscellaneous repairs and services as assigned.
  • Installs, repairs and relocates heavy equipment as assigned.
  • Makes minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Marks athletic fields.
  • Repairs walls, roofs and floors.
  • Repairs and varnishes wooden desks, chairs, tables and other furniture.
  • Sets up sound and other equipment as required.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • One (1) year experience in a maintenance related field.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

Skills

  • Read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
  • Write general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
  • Apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.

Ada and Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with:

  • Moderate exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.).
  • Moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.).
  • Moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids).
  • Moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions and intense noise.
