Maintenance Worker

Full-time, non-exempt position within the Service Workers department at Beacon of Hope House, reporting to the Program Manager.

To maintain the physical environment of Beacon of Hope Programs.

Responsible for overall interior and exterior buildings’ cleanliness
Maintain the safety of the site by assessing, monitoring, and resolving hazards
Report all building related problems to supervisory staff
Responsible for maintaining supplies inventory, and distributing when indicated
Perform maintenance, repairs and painting at the site
Operate light machinery and equipment to maintain the building
Maintain immediate exterior of facility
Coordinate repair work with vendors as directed
Set up, break down and move furniture or equipment
Responsible for amelioration of bedbugs, including cooperating with exterminator, cleaning out rooms, removing furniture, and other related activities
Monitor and review work completed by Transitional Employees Program workers
Assist with tasks related to maintaining the agency vehicles
Support the maintenance operations at other Beacon of Hope sites, as needed
Perform all other tasks as assigned by Beacon of Hope leadership

Employee walks, sits, stands, bends, and is subject to lifting over 50 pounds and moves continually during working hours
Exposure to the use of routine cleaning and other chemicals
Ability to travel to and within fieldwork sites and other locations throughout New York City using public transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions
Traverse neighborhoods that may require a high level of alertness and awareness of surroundings
Assess and work in varied environmental conditions

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
