About the role

This is a full-time, non-exempt/hourly position that reports to the Pastor. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with a 30-60 minute unpaid lunch break.

  • Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will perform a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, grounds, and equipment at various facilities and offsite Archdiocesan properties. This includes minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting, as well as some janitorial duties as assigned.

    • Coordinates with Las Missiones, Pugh Construction, and National Park System for care of the Mission church and La Tiendita
    • Completes all maintenance work assigned and responds to after-hour building maintenance and emergencies
    • Performs repairs or general maintenance, including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, glazier, masonry, janitorial, and painting tasks
    • Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them
    • Uses a range of tools, from common hand and power tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
    • Moves and assists in transporting furniture and delivery of items to and from various buildings on campus
    • Maintains security of campus buildings, including checking, opening, closing, and locking doors and windows, and responding to alarm calls
    • Inspects buildings and other structures to detect malfunctions and needed repairs
    • Performs tasks in the maintenance and alterations of landscape areas, including mowing, weeding, trimming, and hauling
    • Prepares, sets up, and breaks down parish hall for parish events and rentals
    • Maintains an inventory of facility maintenance items and orders supplies as necessary
    • Maintains a record of scheduled maintenance procedures and assists authorized General Contractors
    • Coordinates with parish volunteers for events such as MissionFest and the Prayer Garden

    Requirements

    The physical demands of this job require the employee to frequently stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch/crawl, and occasionally sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 25-50 pounds. The work environment exposes the employee to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, high places, and various chemicals.

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, and 2 years of experience in building and equipment maintenance and repair, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. The ability to communicate with various levels of staff is also required.
