Maintenance Trainee - Nights

About the role

The Maintenance Trainee is responsible for learning and applying skills to maintain equipment and facilities to operate in the safest and most productive electro-mechanical condition, supporting continuous improvement, production strategies, and plant reliability of snack food equipment and building maintenance. Develops an understanding and practical application of governmental regulatory programs and policies, including but not limited to National Electrical Code, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Uniform Building Code (UBC), and local government environmental agency policies.

Responsibilities

• Practice and comply with all plant and maintenance department safety procedures, including but not limited to: Lock-Out - Tag-Out; Arc Flash and Hot Work Permits.
• Understand the concept of Permit Required Confined Spaces and assist with proper alternate entry of re-classified confined spaces when necessary.
• Follow all applicable good manufacturing practices (GMP's) for area assigned.
• Maintain and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and food handling guidelines.
• Attend classes, seminars, and in-house training as needed to maintain skill level with changes in the industry.
• Assist in making improvements and suggestions to optimize the maintenance program.
• Execute and document planned and unplanned work findings and data during shift via computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• With assistance, execute electrical and mechanical work orders in accordance with policy.
• Assist with equipment breakdowns/repairs and resolution.
• Learn methodologies including root cause analysis (RCA), breakdown failure analysis (BDA), and cause maps to identify and resolve equipment issues.
• Develop and demonstrate an understanding of various diagrams, including but not limited to: Single Line Electrical Drawings, mechanical and electrical equipment schematics, pneumatics, hydraulics, Pipe and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
• With assistance, apply equipment care concepts of autonomous maintenance (AM), including but not limited to: Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) and basic parts and tools usage.
• May perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must pass plant-specific maintenance test.
• Some college or formal technical school education is preferred.

Pay

Base rate per hour: $27.25

Schedule

• Night Shift - 12-hour - 2-2-3 Schedule (Work every other weekend)
• Hours: 5:45 PM until 6 AM
