Maintenance Trainee

About the role

As a Maintenance Technician Trainee, you will learn and support the manufacturing process by troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing tire-related manufacturing, processing machinery, and equipment. You will also ensure safety and housekeeping throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Participate and successfully complete the Maintenance Technician Trainee program, gaining knowledge and experience in:
  • Performing maintenance and repairs on diverse equipment to ensure optimum operating conditions and uptime across all related crafts
  • Machine shop equipment, electronic industrial systems, PLCs, variable frequency drives, servo drives, power distribution, instrumentation, preventative maintenance, human-machine interfaces, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machines, drive power distribution systems, instrumentation, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems
  • Performing PLC maintenance and resolving issues
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical, electronic, and mechanical issues
  • Interpreting blueprints, sketches, maintenance manuals, and manufacturing specifications
  • Cutting, forming, threading, fitting, and installing piping for air, water, steam, oil, nitrogen, gas, and other lines
  • Preparing and welding in flat, vertical, or overhead positions using multiple technologies
  • Logging or using a computerized work order system for repair and maintenance activities
• Abide by safe work standards including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), NFPA 70E (Arc flash)
• Adhere to Goodyear’s attendance policy
• Perform manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods, which may include lifting light to heavy materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Must have sufficient credits to complete the AAS Degree in Technical Studies (Industrial Maintenance Technician) or another curriculum designated by Goodyear-Danville within one year of starting the program
• Ability to lift heavy materials, climb, stand, squat, bend, and work at heights with or without reasonable accommodations
• Must successfully complete all pre-employment criteria
• Ability to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime if applicable
• Basic computer skills
• Must provide basic tools

Preferred Qualifications

• AAS degree in Industrial Systems Technology, Electrical Systems Technology, or equivalent technical degree
• Previous industrial manufacturing experience with basic knowledge of machine technology, construction, operation of heavy industrial machinery, and power/control devices
• Experience adhering to industry-specific safety standards

Pay

$32.22 per hour with increases throughout the training program
