About the role

The Maintenance Trainee will be trained to perform the functions listed below through a combination of hands‑on training from skilled maintenance technicians and coursework at a community college or equivalent. This feeder position prepares the trainee to advance to a Maintenance Technician role after training with multicraft technicians and moving into an opening. Responsibilities

  • Safely performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all equipment with the ability to troubleshoot all plant equipment with minimal downtime.
  • Performs preventive/predictable maintenance.
  • Orders parts needed for projects.
  • Assists other maintenance technicians and production employees with repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Carries out initial general maintenance tasks including welding (stick & MIG), cutting torch, hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and working with three‑phase power.
  • Maintains mechanical systems such as power transmission, drives, conveyors, fans, hand tools, general metal working, boiler operation and maintenance, basic welding theory and application, and shop equipment.
  • Handles electrical work: troubleshooting/replacing motors, repairing controls, conduit work (rigid), and adhering to NEC and local codes while maintaining safe, neat, professional work.

Requirements

  • Completion of at least one semester of an Industrial Maintenance or similar program (minimum).

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or 2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting (preferred).

Skills

  • Welding (stick & MIG), cutting torch, hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication.
  • Knowledge of three‑phase power.
  • Mechanical abilities: power transmission, drives and conveyors, fans, hand tools, general metal working, boiler operation and maintenance, basic welding theory and application, maintenance shop equipment.
  • Electrical abilities: troubleshoot/replace electrical motors, troubleshoot/repair controls, conduit experience (rigid), familiarity with NEC and local codes.
  • PLC knowledge/experience is a plus.
  • Ability to order parts for projects.
  • Safe, neat, professional work habits.
