The Maintenance Technician position at Van Metre's West Pointe Apartments in Burlington, NC, requires a candidate who enjoys challenging themselves and collaborating with others. This role involves assisting the Service Manager with various maintenance tasks, responding to resident service requests, and ensuring the property's upkeep.

Responsibilities

  • Aid the Service Manager in managing and overseeing all maintenance aspects of the community
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and janitorial services
  • Handle general repairs for property grounds, apartments, and building exteriors
  • Support maintenance of storage areas and manage maintenance materials
  • Perform turnover work for vacant units
  • Walk the property daily to maintain curb appeal and address safety issues
  • Notify the Service Manager and Property Manager of safety or liability concerns and preventive maintenance needs
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of all tasks completed
  • Manage inventory and storage areas, and purchase necessary maintenance materials
  • Perform work area clean-up and adhere to safety-related duties
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment as needed
  • Respond promptly to resident service requests and provide excellent customer service
  • Participate in after-hours emergency requests and ensure property coverage 24/7

Requirements

  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor with residents, visitors, contractors, and colleagues
  • Have the necessary skills to execute tasks outlined in the job description
  • Be able to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with team members

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of maintenance experience or equivalent training
  • Universal CFC Certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of appliance, electrical, and plumbing repair
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC and electrical circuitry
  • Current on OSHA, building, and safety standards
  • Own basic tools and know how to safely use and maintain them
  • Valid drivers' license

  • Salary range: $18.00-$21.00 per hour (pay commensurate with experience, education, training, and skills)
