Maintenance Technician Sr (Alabama Power Corporate Headquarters)
About the Role
This position is responsible for the operations and maintenance of Alabama Power-owned facilities and assets, including repair and preventive maintenance for building infrastructure, grounds, access control systems, HVAC (chillers), mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and more to ensure safe and productive work environments. The technician must be self-motivated and capable of working in critical areas while operating specialized equipment. The role is based at APCO Corporate Headquarters in downtown Birmingham.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, modify, and install equipment and systems to ensure a comfortable environment for customers.
- Perform general inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with national and local codes (e.g., NEC, OSHA, building, and plumbing) to provide a safe and reliable work environment.
- Maintain and clean equipment rooms, related equipment, and panels.
- Maintain facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing (e.g., chillers, pumps).
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
- Active State of Alabama HVAC License (required).
- General experience and knowledge in HVAC & controls, electrical, and/or plumbing.
- Vast knowledge of the following:
- Commercial/industrial electrical maintenance, repair, and installation.
- Electronic and pneumatic controls, equipment, and systems maintenance, repair, and installation.
- Hydraulic equipment and systems maintenance, repair, and installation.
- HVAC systems maintenance, repair, and installation of chillers and HVAC equipment.
- Relevant codes (e.g., NEC, OSHA, building, and plumbing).
- NERC CIP Certification (required within the first 60 days of employment).
