About the Role

This position focuses on diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and replacing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems on plant manufacturing and support equipment. Maintenance Technicians work as part of a team to perform preventive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and improve productivity while adhering to safety protocols. The role is multi-craft, with training provided to develop mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks to troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and replace systems on plant equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.
• Work as part of a team to safely conduct preventive maintenance, respond to breakdown calls, and reduce downtime and waste in a production environment.
• Follow all company safety rules, including lock-out tag-out procedures, and work with urgency to minimize machine downtime.
• Read and interpret blueprints, charts, and equipment manuals; align equipment to specified tolerances.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, fans, agitators, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Pursue ongoing technical training to enhance capabilities and progress to an A-level mechanic within 36 months.
• Work any shift, overtime, and weekends as needed, including a potential transition to a weekend crew (Thursday through Monday) after training.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and contribute to problem-solving efforts.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Technical degree in mechanical or electrical trades is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tables, charts, and equipment manuals.
• Experience with mechanical and/or electrical equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, fans, agitators, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to pursue ongoing technical training and work in varying temperatures and noisy environments.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and provide own basic hand tools (specialized tools provided by PCA).
• Ability to progress to an A-level mechanic within 36 months.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, steam, and pneumatic maintenance functions.
• Electrical or PLC certification; experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming.
• Technical degree and/or comparable experience in the corrugated or packaging industry.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly within corrugated or packaging.

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment and acquire multi-craft skills (mechanic and electrician).
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to share ideas with coworkers.
• Ability to work alone or in a team, learn quickly, and pay attention to detail.
• Capability to recognize equipment sounds for safety and issue identification.
• Willingness to work in varying temperatures and noisy environments requiring hearing protection.

Pay

Hourly rate ranges from $34.30 to $49.66, based on skills, knowledge, and experience. Additional compensation includes:

• Annual bonus based on plant performance metrics.
• 50-cent shift differential for swing and graveyard shifts.
