Maintenance Technician - Processing

About the role

In this role, you will maintain, modify, and occasionally design equipment layouts, estimate costs, and build plant equipment under slight supervision. You will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical care, maintenance, and operability of all associated equipment in accordance with safety, quality, specifications, federal guidelines, and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Promotes job safety, participates in developing plant safety goals, policies, and maintains compliance with OSHA and NEC/70E codes.
• Operates, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains mechanical, electrical, and automated plant systems using specialized tools and technical expertise.
• Performs assigned and emergency maintenance tasks, including lubrication, electrical work, and responding efficiently to trouble calls.
• Accurately completes required reports, work orders, and records within the CMMS system, maintaining proper documentation and supporting quality processes.
• Ensures repair areas are properly cleaned to meet food safety guidelines; collaborates with team members and provides technical support as needed.

This role works in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to loud noises, strong odors, temperature fluctuations, moving machinery, wet or humid conditions, hazardous chemicals, high or confined areas, extreme temperatures, and vibration throughout various facility areas. The role also regularly involves prolonged standing, walking, communicating, and sensory tasks, frequent handling of objects, climbing, balancing, and performing physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment are required.

Requirements

• Industrial Maintenance Mechanic and/or State Mechanical Journeyman certification, or equivalent experience and demonstrated competency.
• Basic electrical knowledge—including electrical/instrumentation tech school credits, OJT, or millwright coursework (2008 or later)—or equivalent experience and demonstrated competency.
• Safe working practices with 480 volt three-phase power, basic knowledge of electrical systems (power distribution, control wiring, PLCs, VFDs, servos), ability to troubleshoot and replace components, interpret VFD faults, and set up codes on coders; does not perform installation or programming of advanced systems.
• Own tools required to perform related tasks safely.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams relevant to the field.
• Continuous learning mindset and adaptability to new equipment, processes, and roles.
• Strong technical ability with a digital-first approach; accurately enters data.
• Clear communication with all levels of the organization, ability to follow instructions (written/oral/diagram form), and complete necessary documentation independently in English.
• Attention to detail, prioritizing product quality, safety, and accurate record-keeping.
• Physical capability to meet job requirements, including bending frequently and lifting heavy objects (up to 40 pounds), and proficiency in safely operating Powered Industrial Vehicles.
• Adaptability, technical proficiency, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills to work independently or collaboratively.

Schedule

Available shift: 2nd Shift (3–11 PM) Monday–Friday, with every other weekend required.

Pay

Starting at $32.84 USD hourly + bonus eligibility + hourly pay differential for applicable shifts. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
